The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of Arinze Nwogba at the Kuje Correctional Centre, following his arraignment on six counts of impersonation and cyber-fraud. The presiding judge, Justice Salim Ibrahim, directed that the defendant remain in custody until October 7, when the court will deliver its ruling on a bail application filed by his legal counsel, Christian Ejike.

According to police reports, Nwogba is accused of orchestrating a deceptive scheme by hijacking the identity of the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Segun Aina. Authorities allege that the suspect utilized messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Truecaller, alongside a LinkedIn presence, to project a false aura of authority and solicit illegal payments from unsuspecting citizens.

The prosecution, led by Nonso Eleodimuo, detailed how the syndicate targeted victims by advertising fraudulent contract opportunities. The suspect allegedly purported to have obtained approvals from the Federal Ministry of Education for the supply of digital equipment, using the prestige of the JAMB Registrar’s office to lend credibility to his criminal demands.
