Atiku’s Proposed Fuel Subsidy Reversal Will Restore Economic Sanity, Says Nwosu

In a scathing assessment of the federal government's fiscal trajectory, the former National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Ralph Nwosu, has asserted that President Bola Tinubu’s unilateral removal of the premium motor spirit (PMS) subsidy was a fundamental administrative error. Speaking during a national television broadcast, Nwosu argued that the policy has inflicted unprecedented socio-economic dislocation across the country, rendering daily survival an extreme sport for average citizens.

To illustrate the gravity of the ongoing economic hardship, Nwosu pointed out the desperate survival tactics now adopted by low-income public servants. He revealed that a significant number of civil servants working within the Federal Capital Territory have resorted to sleeping in motor parks and public spaces because their monthly salaries can no longer cover the astronomical cost of commuting from satellite towns like Nyanya and Karu to the central business district.

"When a policy has failed, a policy has failed," Nwosu remarked, emphasizing that governance must be measured by its human impact rather than abstract macroeconomic projections. He criticized the current administration for what he termed an unyielding commitment to "cosmetic" reforms that ignore the vital role of human motivation in national productivity, leaving the workforce thoroughly demoralized and economically paralyzed.
