Bloodbath in Ogbaru: Security Forces Neutralise Six Gunmen, Lose Operative in Fierce Anambra Gun Duel

A joint task force of Nigerian security operatives has neutralized six suspected members of an outlawed secessionist group during a high-stakes tactical raid on an insurgent camp in the Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State. According to security sources, the gun battle, which lasted for several hours, resulted in the destruction of a notorious operational base used by the gunmen to launch violent attacks across the state.

The confrontation, however, took a tragic turn as the security forces paid a heavy price. One gallantly fighting operative lost his life in the line of duty, while another sustained critical injuries and is currently receiving intensive medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital. Despite the casualty, the resilience of the joint forces led to the recovery of an assortment of lethal weapons, including automatic rifles, ammunition, and charms allegedly used by the secessionist group to fortify themselves.

Police authorities in Anambra, while confirming the incident, stated that the operation was part of an ongoing, coordinated offensive targeting illegal camps set up by elements linked to the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN). Although the identity of the neutralized suspects remains subject to official forensic confirmation, security agencies have maintained that this particular cell was responsible for recent targeted killings of security personnel and local politicians in the region.
