Bloodshed in Ilorin as Rival Transport Union Factions Clash, Leave Five Hospitalised

Pandemonium broke out in the metropolitan city of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, when rival factions of transport union workers engaged in a violent confrontation over the control of local motor parks. According to eyewitness accounts, the clash, which caught commuters and local traders off guard, left at least five individuals severely injured and currently fighting for their lives in an undisclosed public hospital.

The conflict allegedly began as a verbal altercation early in the morning before quickly escalating into a full-scale street battle. Weapons such as machetes, clubs, and other dangerous implements were reportedly freely brandished by the warring factions. Panic-stricken residents and shop owners along the popular transit corridors were forced to flee for safety, hurriedly shutting down business activities to avoid being caught in the crossfire of the rampaging youth.

Security personnel, including members of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), were subsequently drafted to the flashpoints to restore order. Police sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that several arrests have been made, while a heavy security presence has been maintained in the area to forestall any reprisal attacks from the aggrieved factions.
