The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has raised an urgent alarm after cybercriminals compromised its official verified handle on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Suspicious activity was flagged early Friday morning when the account abruptly ceased routine human rights updates and began disseminating unsolicited cryptocurrency promotions and fraudulent digital token links.

An independent assessment confirmed that the compromised handle was being actively utilized to circulate deceptive messaging designed to siphon assets from unsuspecting netizens under the veneer of an institutional platform. The commission swiftly alerted the public, categorically disassociating its mandate from all cryptocurrency schemes, promotional campaigns, or financial solicitations appearing on the compromised feed.

In an official disclaimer, the rights body urged members of the public, civil society organizations, and development partners to exercise extreme caution.
