Delta Police, Vigilantes Rescue Abducted Woman After Gunfire in Sapele

In a display of swift tactical coordination, operatives attached to the Sapele Police Division, working alongside local vigilante groups, have rescued a woman who was violently abducted in the Amukpe neighborhood of Sapele Local Government Area, Delta State. The incident, which unfolded late Wednesday, sparked an aggressive overnight search and rescue operation across adjacent forest belts.

According to official statements issued by the Delta State Police Command's spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the victim was ambushed as she attempted to drive into her residential compound. The armed assailants, who had allegedly laid a siege at the entrance, opened fire sporadically into the air with heavy weaponry to terrorize residents before forcing the victim into nearby thickets.

Upon receiving an emergency distress report, the Divisional Police Officer for Sapele immediately mobilized tactical and surveillance units to the scene. Crime scene investigators recovered several expended AK-47 ammunition shells, confirming the lethal intent and firepower of the abductors. Without delay, combined teams of law enforcement officers and grassroots vigilantes initiated an aggressive sweep of surrounding bushlands.

Realizing that security forces were closing in on their hideout on Thursday morning, the abductors abandoned the victim and fled deeper into the forest belt.
