VP Shettima, Governor Fubara Unveil 33.5km Elele-Omoku Dual Carriageway in Rivers State

In a major stride toward regional infrastructural transformation, Vice President Kashim Shettima joined Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to officially commission the newly completed 33.5-kilometer Elele–Egbeda–Omoku dual carriageway. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vice President Shettima commended the Rivers State Government for prioritizing developmental initiatives that directly elevate the quality of life for ordinary citizens. The newly expanded dual carriageway serves as a major artery connecting agricultural beltways to industrial zones in Omoku, a primary center of gas and crude oil production. According to engineering officials, the upgraded road features advanced drainage systems, reinforced pavement layers, and modern solar street lighting aimed at facilitating round-the-clock transportation and reducing vehicular transit times dramatically.

For local residents, farmers, and commercial transporters, the completion of the road brings an immediate end to years of severe commuter distress caused by degraded stretches. Traders moving perishable produce from agricultural settlements in Egbeda and Elele to urban markets in Port Harcourt can now operate with significantly lower freight overheads and minimal travel delays.
