1996 Olympic Football Legends Join Gov Sani on Ahmadu Bello Stadium Tour as Kaduna Fulfills 30-Year Land Promise

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, alongside decorated legends of Nigeria's historic 1996 Olympic football squad—Daniel Amokachi, Garba Lawal, and Emmanuel Babayaro—conducted a comprehensive inspection tour of the ongoing reconstruction at the historic Ahmadu Bello Stadium (ABS) on Tuesday.

The project, which represents a massive infrastructural investment by the state government, aims to transform the aged facility into a modern, FIFA-standard sporting arena. According to official statements released by the executive administration, the main bowl's seating capacity is being expanded from its original 16,000 capacity to a capacity of 33,000 seats.

A stand-out feature of the revamped complex is the installation of a hybrid turf, reported to be the first of its kind in Nigeria. State officials confirmed that while secondary training pitches are now fully complete, intensive construction continues on the primary pitch bowl, digital ticketing booths, media center, and specialized athletes' hostels. The entire project is slated for completion by November 2026.
