In an unprecedented and highly strategic move ahead of the 2027 general elections, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has set an ambitious target to mobilize at least 10 million Nigerian students to actively participate in the next electoral cycle. The decision, which signals a major shift from passive observation to active political engagement, was formalized through the constitution of a comprehensive National Election Mobilisation Committee. This body is tasked with coordinating voter sensitization, registration monitoring, and active student participation across the length and breadth of the country.

The structural layout of this massive mobilization machinery is highly centralized yet operationally decentralized. According to an official statement signed by the NANS National President, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, the NANS President will personally serve as the Director-General of the committee, while the NANS Senate President will assume the role of Deputy Director. Key appointments have also been ratified, including Olusola Oladoja as the National Coordinator, Gambo Abubakar as the National Deputy Coordinator, and Charles Obina Ebube as the National Public Relations Officer, forming a formidable administrative core designed to drive this nationwide campaign.

Recognizing the vast and diverse geopolitical landscape of Nigeria, NANS has meticulously structured the mobilization committee across all six geopolitical zones, appointing regional coordinators and advisory councils. Agbabiaka Ahmed has been named the Chairman of the Advisory Committee for the Southern region, while Ibrahim G. Ibrahim Babalolo will lead the Northern Advisory Committee. The operational grid stretches across all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), ensuring that local campus leaders, student union governments, and regional coordinators are aligned with the national directive to combat voter apathy.
