In a move that mirrors his reputation for zero-tolerance administration, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, braved torrential downpours to personally inspect heavily flooded communities and critical infrastructure across Abuja. The unscheduled tour was initiated following persistent complaints from residents who have faced severe property damage and restricted mobility due to flash floods during the current rainy season.

During the inspection of affected areas, the ministerial delegation uncovered an illegal commercial structure erected directly on a critical drainage channel—a site that had reportedly been revoked by previous administrations to preserve the capital’s natural waterways. The developers, allegedly acting with the collusion of compromised officials, ignored the revocation order to proceed with construction, effectively creating a bottleneck that forces storm runoff into nearby residential zones.

Visible anger characterized the Minister's reaction as he examined the structural blockade. Wike maintained that the preservation of Abuja's ecological and structural integrity is non-negotiable.
