It is an open secret in Nigerian politics that violent youth groups are often mobilized as muscle during electoral cycles, only to be abandoned with their weapons once political ambitions are secured. The state must enforce strict punitive measures against any politician, traditional ruler, or community leader found to be collaborating with or funding these syndicates, regardless of their status or political alignment.

Ultimately, the success of the Delta State Anti-Terrorism and Anti-Cultism (Amendment) Law will not be measured by the eloquence of its drafts or the grandstanding of its sponsors in Asaba. It will be judged by the restoration of peace in Ughelli, the return of safe, vibrant night economies in Warri, and the systematic dismantling of the financial networks that have turned young Nigerians into instruments of terror.
