Boko Haram militants slaughter 15 farmers in fresh Borno ambush

The relative calm enjoyed by farmers in Borno State has been shattered following a brutal attack in the Marte Local Government Area. Reports indicate that at least 15 farmers were intercepted and killed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Wednesday evening while tending to their crops within the Ala and Musune wards.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, as the agricultural sector remains a primary target for insurgent groups seeking to disrupt food security and civilian stability in the Northeast. Unconfirmed accounts from local sources suggest that a total of 18 farmers had ventured out to the fields, leaving three individuals still unaccounted for as rescue efforts continue.

While the military and local vigilante groups have been alerted, the remote nature of the terrain in Marte continues to pose a significant hurdle for swift intervention. As of the time of filing this report, official statements from the Theatre Command of Operation Hadin Kai are still being awaited to clarify the exact circumstances of the engagement and the search for those reported missing.
