Bridging Africa and Europe: Hybrid Motors, Artnovation Set to Unveil EV Art Masterpiece in Milan
In an unprecedented fusion of high-end engineering and contemporary African aesthetics, African creativity, European innovation, and sustainable mobility are set to converge in Milan next month. Artnovation and Hybrid Motors Nigeria Limited have finalized plans to unveil a pioneering artistic work exploring the delicate relationship between art, electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy, and sustainable development. This collaborative masterpiece, titled The Bridge of Motion, represents the 17th installation in Artnovation’s acclaimed 'Thread of Continents' series.
According to details made available to the press, the historic unveiling will take place during the opening of the Echoes of Renaissance in the Hues of Africa exhibition at the prestigious Fondazione Luciana Matalon in Milan on September 16, 2026. Curated by Foluke Michael, the Chief Curator of Artnovation, the first 16 works in this expansive series explored the evolving cultural and historical relationship between Africa and Europe through themes of memory, encounter, trade, and mutual cooperation. This new iteration, however, pivots sharply into the modern frontiers of technological mobility and green infrastructure.
The selection of the number 17 is highly symbolic, deliberately referencing the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Foluke Michael described the project as an essential new chapter in the creative and industrial relationship between the two continents. She emphasized that the project is designed to represent far more than a mere vehicle, but rather an exploration of what can emerge when creativity, renewable energy, and sustainable development enter the same critical conversation.
"Artnovation and Hybrid Motors Nigeria Limited are collaborating to present 'The Bridge of Motion', a groundbreaking artwork merging electric vehicles, renewable energy, and African creative expression. Scheduled for unveiling in Milan on September 16, 2026, the project seeks to foster deeper technical and economic partnerships between Africa and Europe under the EU's Global Gateway framework."
