FG Honors Excellence: Complete List of Winners at the 2026 President's Teachers and Schools Awards

To move beyond symbolic gestures, the Federal Government must fundamentally realign its annual budget to prioritize educational infrastructure. While honoring outstanding teachers creates positive headlines, Nigeria still falls significantly short of the UNESCO recommendation that developing nations dedicate 15% to 20% of their national budgets to education. Without a sustained, multi-year funding commitment, the gap between elite award-winning schools and the average public classroom will continue to widen dangerously.

Furthermore, as Todaynews.ng continues to track development indices, the focus of the President's Teachers' and Schools' Excellence Awards must evolve to match the digital age. Future iterations should place heavier weight on digital literacy, AI-assisted pedagogy, and coding integrations. Classrooms must transition from rote learning systems into centers of critical thinking and technological innovation to prepare Nigerian youths for a hyper-competitive global marketplace.

Ultimately, the 2026 PTSEA must be viewed as a catalyst for reform rather than a final destination. By addressing structural deficits, ensuring sub-national wage compliance, and democratizing access to modern teaching tools, Nigeria can build an educational ecosystem where excellence is not an exception celebrated once a year, but a standard reality for every child and educator across the federation.
