Indian Police Arrest Nigerian Salon Worker with N40.9m Cocaine in Indore

In what highlights the ongoing international crackdown on illicit drug trafficking, security operatives in India have apprehended a Nigerian national, identified as Emmanuel Joy, in possession of 57.18 grams of high-grade cocaine. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth over Rs29 lakh, which translates to approximately N40.9 million on the black market.

According to police reports from Madhya Pradesh, officers attached to the Chandan Nagar Police Station intercepted the suspect at the prominent IT Park in Sinhasa, located in the commercial hub of Indore. Security officials reportedly acted on intelligence regarding the movement of narcotics across state lines, leading to a targeted patrol in the area.

Local law enforcement sources revealed that Joy, a Lagos resident, exhibited highly suspicious behavior upon spotting the police team, prompting officers to stop and question her. During the brief interrogation, her failure to provide satisfactory answers about her mission in Indore led to a search of her belongings, during which the concealed cocaine was allegedly recovered from a transparent bag.
