Indian Police Arrest Nigerian Salon Worker with N40.9m Cocaine in Indore

Preliminary investigations have exposed the modus operandi of the suspect, who reportedly arrived in India on August 14 on a short-term, seven-month business visa. Under the guise of legitimate commerce, she had allegedly taken up residence in Bandra East, Mumbai, where she worked at a local hair salon alongside her sister.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to security operatives that she procured the narcotics at a lower rate in Mumbai with the intention of distributing them at premium prices to a network of buyers in Indore. This confession has triggered wider investigations into her local associates and the source of the drug supply chain in Mumbai.

The Chandan Nagar police have registered a formal case against the suspect under Sections 8 and 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, a stringent legal framework that carries heavy penalties in India. Having verified her travel and immigration records, authorities have arraigned the suspect in court, where she was subsequently remanded in prison custody pending trial.
