Lagos Announces Three-Week Closure of Oke-Afa Bridge for Critical Structural Repairs

In a decisive bid to safeguard infrastructure and public safety, the Lagos State Government has announced a three-week temporary closure of the critical Oke-Afa Bridge in the Isolo local council area. According to official statements from the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, the remedial intervention is scheduled to allow engineering teams to execute comprehensive repairs on the deteriorating structural elements of the bridge.

The Oke-Afa Bridge serves as a crucial arterial connection linking the high-density residential and commercial districts of Ejigbo, Isolo, Ago Palace Way, and Ikotun to central business hubs across the state. Over years of unyielding traffic pressure, severe wear and tear on the expansion joints and deck slabs have necessitated this emergency maintenance routine to prevent potential structural failures.

State transport officials confirmed that the traffic diversion will be executed in coordinated phases. Traffic management infrastructure, including heavy signage, physical barriers, and solar-powered lighting, is being deployed along key approach points to guide night and day commuters through designated detours.
