LASISMA Issues Seven-Day Ultimatum to Illegal Encroachers Around Ojo General Hospital

In a decisive move to protect public infrastructure and ensure unhindered access for medical emergencies, the Lagos State Government has issued a strict seven-day quit notice to traders, illegal occupants, and street vendors operating along the perimeter and road setbacks of the newly constructed Ojo General Hospital.

The ultimatum was issued by officials from the Lagos State Informal Space Management Authority (LASISMA) during a joint sensitization and compliance enforcement exercise across the Ojo axis. According to official accounts, the proliferation of informal commercial activities around the facility presents severe safety hazards, threatens environmental sanitation, and severely restricts access for emergency medical vehicles.

Inspectors from the agency noted that several informal structures, temporary shanties, and roadside stalls have aggressively encroached upon land specifically set aside for road expansion, public drainage, and utility corridors. State officials warned that any structure remaining within the designated public setback after the seven-day window will be systematically removed without further warning.

Speaking during the field exercise, agency representatives re-emphasized that while the state government remains committed to supporting small business owners, informal commerce cannot be allowed to compromise vital public health facilities or block critical transport channels servicing major medical centers.
