NSCDC Apprehends Suspected Cattle Rustlers in Kano, Recovers Stolen Livestock and Weapons

In a decisive blow to rural criminality, operatives of the Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have successfully apprehended two suspected cattle rustlers. The suspects, who have allegedly been terrorizing pastoral communities along the fringes of the state, were intercepted during a targeted patrol aimed at curbing agricultural criminality. During the arrest, the paramilitary officers recovered one stolen cow and two lethal machetes, which were reportedly used to intimidate victims.

According to preliminary security reports, the suspects were caught along a critical transit corridor frequently used by syndicates to move stolen livestock from rural farms to municipal markets. When flagged down by the NSCDC patrol team, the suspects allegedly failed to provide any legitimate proof of ownership or transit permits for the animal, raising immediate red flags that led to their swift detention.

Confirming the arrest, security sources within the command indicated that the suspects are currently undergoing rigorous interrogation. The investigation is reportedly being widened to track down the network of buyers and abattoir operators who act as fence-men for these stolen animals. Command officials have reiterated their resolve to dismantle the entire value chain of illicit livestock trade in the state.
