Peter Obi, Donald Duke, Political Stalwarts Converge in Port Harcourt for Amaechi’s Mother’s Vigil Mass

Prominent political leaders, elder statesmen, and key national figures converged on Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, to stand in solidarity with former Minister of Transportation and two-term Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, during the vigil Mass held in honor of his late mother.

The deeply reflective Eucharistic celebration took place at the historic Corpus Christi Cathedral of the Catholic Church in Port Harcourt. The Mass served as the opening rite in the final funeral obsequies for the revered matriarch, Mrs. Amaechi, who passed away at the venerable age of 89.

Among the notable dignitaries in attendance were the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, alongside numerous associates, former cabinet members, and captains of industry. The congregation witnessed solemn prayers, hymns, and reflections commemorating a life characterized by devotion, discipline, and communal stewardship.
