The Plateau State Police Command has cracked down on campus violence following the arrest of several female students implicated in a viral video showing the brutal assault of another female student in Pankshin Local Government Area. The video, which circulated widely across various social media platforms, triggered intense public outrage and prompted immediate security interventions to prevent potential reprisal attacks within the academic community.

According to reports, the Commissioner of Police for Plateau State, CP Ayodeji Faniyan, took immediate notice of the circulating footage and ordered the Area Commander in Pankshin to launch an urgent investigation. The swift execution of this directive led to the swift apprehension of the suspects, who are confirmed to be students of the newly upgraded Federal University of Education, Pankshin.

Confirming the arrests in Jos, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, disclosed that the suspects are currently undergoing preliminary questioning. Alabo emphasized that the command is taking the matter with utmost seriousness to serve as a deterrent to other students who might harbor intentions of taking the law into their own hands. Following these initial inquiries, the suspects are expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for deeper interrogation.

The victim, whose identity is being protected for safety and psychological recovery, reportedly suffered physical injuries and emotional trauma from the public humiliation. Campus safety advocates have lauded the police's rapid response, noting that unchecked campus bullying and violence have historically escalated into deadlier cult-related activities if left unchecked by administrative and state authorities.
