Proliferating Phantoms: How Fake Director-Generals and Shadow Agencies Are Fleecing Nigeria's Unemployed

President Bola Tinubu's administration cannot afford to treat this phenomenon as a minor law enforcement issue. The proliferation of fake federal agencies is a direct assault on the integrity of the Nigerian state. It erodes public trust in legitimate governance, compromises national security, and signals to foreign investors that the country's administrative regulatory framework is porous and easily manipulated by criminal elements.

To arrest this drift, the Federal Government must transition from reactive policing to proactive, systemic prevention. The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, must urgently publish and maintain a centralized, publicly accessible digital registry of all legally recognized ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). This portal must serve as the single source of truth for job-seekers and corporate entities alike.

The road ahead requires a decisive, multi-agency task force that actively monitors the public sphere, identifies these phantom regulators, and ensures swift, exemplary prosecution. Until the masterminds behind these fake agencies are met with severe judicial consequences rather than administrative slaps on the wrist, the desperation of Nigeria's youth will remain a fertile ground for these opportunistic predators.
