Tragedy in Ibadan: Oyo Acting Governor Visits Ravaged Iso Arobo Market, Orders Immediate Relief Measures

The devastating fire that gutted parts of the Jankara Iso Arobo Market in Ibadan, Oyo State, has drawn direct government attention. On Monday, the Acting Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal, made an unscheduled assessment visit to the scene of the disaster to empathize with the distraught traders who lost goods worth millions of Naira. The visit underscores the administration's swift-response strategy in the face of local emergencies and public distress.

Guided by emergency responders and market leaders, Barrister Lawal walked through the charred remains of the market stalls, expressing profound sadness over the extensive damage. Eyewitnesses and affected traders described the inferno as sudden, rapidly sweeping through tightly packed shops before fire service officials could fully contain it. Though no lives were reportedly lost, the economic toll on the local merchants is estimated to be highly severe, according to preliminary assessment reports.

Addressing the gathered traders amidst tears and pleas for assistance, the Acting Governor assured them that the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration would not abandon them in their hour of need.
