Medical services at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) have fully resumed following the decision by resident doctors to suspend their brief industrial action. The strike, which temporarily paralyzed clinical operations and left dozens of critical care patients in limbo, was called off after high-level mediation and an unreserved apology tendered by the family of a patient accused of assaulting a medical officer.

The industrial action was triggered when a doctor on emergency duty was reportedly subjected to physical aggression following a dispute over patient management.
