Bauchi LG Polls: APM Sweeps All 20 Chairmanship Seats, Secures 319 Wards

In a decisive electoral sweep highlighting current grassroots political dynamics in Bauchi State, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has secured total control across all 20 local government chairmanship seats. According to official declarations released late Monday night by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), the party also captured an overwhelming 319 out of 323 councillorship positions across the state’s political wards.

Announcing the certified figures at the commission's headquarters, BASIEC Chairperson Hon. Hajiya Jummai S. Abubakar confirmed that APM candidates met all legal requirements and satisfied the statutory provisions after vote tallying, collation, and verification. Heavy tallies were recorded in major urban and rural centers, led by Bauchi Local Government Area where Umar Mohammed Aliyu polled 125,170 votes, and Toro Local Government Area where Abubakar Ibrahim Dembo secured 109,999 votes.

The electoral commission stated that the exercise was conducted in full compliance with state electoral statutes. However, independent political analysts note that such dominant sweeps remain characteristic of state-administered local council polls across the federation.
