In a decisive and coordinated nationwide crackdown, the Armed Forces of Nigeria have intensified their offensive against criminal networks, rescuing at least 59 kidnapped victims and neutralizing several terrorists between August 14 and August 20. According to official statements from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), the operations spanned across volatile corridors in the North-East, North-West, North-Central, and southern green fields, dealing a severe blow to the operational capabilities of non-state actors.

Major-General Michael Onoja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, revealed in a comprehensive briefing on Saturday that the military's strategic maneuvers have yielded significant tactical victories. In the North-East zone, troops of Operation HADIN KAI successfully rescued eight abducted citizens. Highlighting the international dimensions of the conflict, security forces also liberated a 63-year-old Cameroonian national who had been seized along the highly volatile Gwoza-Cameroon axis, while simultaneously securing the release of three individuals from the dense Gwamnare Forest in Bauchi State.

Further squeezing the logistics of the insurgents, the military reported that 47 family members of terrorists alongside six active combatants surrendered to troops in Borno State. This mass surrender is increasingly viewed by security analysts as a sign of waning morale and dwindling supply lines within the remaining strongholds of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram.
