Oke-Ogun Elders Submit Comprehensive 10-Year Development Masterplan to Oyo Government

A central pillar of the newly submitted blueprint is the urgent resuscitation of the dormant Ikere Gorge Dam. The council expressed strong support for ongoing state and federal initiatives to revamp the project, noting that its optimal operation remains critical to the region's prosperity.

According to development experts, fully operationalising the dam would deliver substantial multi-sectoral dividends, including:

• Hydroelectric Generation: Boosting local power grids to drive emerging rural industries.
• All-Year Irrigation: Expanding dry-season farming and bolstering food security statewide.
• Potable Water Supply: Extending clean, reticulated water across multiple agrarian settlements.

The council underscored that the sustained revival of such monumental assets will halt rural-urban migration, attract direct foreign and domestic investments, and consolidate Oyo State's position as a regional economic hub.
